Daring Fireball: Layoffpalooza in Tech

Microsoft is far from alone in announcing signficant layoffs. CNBC has the tally at 60,000 total jobs:

Microsoft: 10,000
Amazon: 18,000 (mostly retail, but reports that the Alexa division lost $10B last year would have me polishing my resume if I worked on that)
Facebook: 11,000
Salesforce: 7,000

CNBC put Google on the list, but at just 230 employees (from their health service division), that’s a different ballpark.
